Ingredients

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine all ingredients. Mix well to ensure even distribution of spices.

Using The Rub

  • Prep the Turkey: Pat the turkey dry with paper towels. Loosen the skin on the breast and legs by gently sliding your fingers underneath.
  • Apply the Rub: Rub the spice mixture generously all over the turkey, including under the skin.
  • Let it Rest: If possible, let the turkey rest in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to penetrate.
  • Smoke the Turkey: Follow your preferred smoking method and recipe for cooking the turkey.

Notes

  1. Adjust the heat: For a spicier rub, increase the cayenne pepper. For a milder rub, reduce or omit it.
  2. Customize the flavor: Feel free to experiment with other herbs and spices to create your own unique blend. This spice rub will give your smoked turkey a beautiful color and a flavorful crust. Enjoy!
  3. Storage: Store any leftover spice rub in an airtight container in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months.
