Top 10 Super Bowl Foods {Best Recipes For Game Day}

Here are my top 10 Super Bowl foods! These well-tested and trusted recipes are must-makes for the biggest game day of the year, including spicy-sweet chicken wings, lots of chili ideas and a To. Die. For. blue cheese dip. Grab your chips, the snacks are almost ready!

Like all national holidays, Super Bowl Sunday is all about the food—and not just any old type of food either, but the best food: GRUB. This is a day when we as Americans celebrate all that is cheesy, spicy, and fried!

I’ve scoured all the recipes on KBR as well as on my sister site, ¡Hola! Jalapeño to bring you my ultimate list of the top 10 Super Bowl foods. This is no time for light and healthy, save that for another day. The Super Bowl is all about vegging out on the couch, watching the commercials and the halftime show (and maybe the game) and indulging in all our favorite comfort foods.

While my vinegar and spice ribs may please the meat eaters, they do require a bit of work. If you don’t feel like going to all the trouble for your Super Bowl party, hot wings are where it’s at. There’s so many versions out there, try my favorite piñata chicken wings, or even easier, this slow cooker buffalo chicken dip from Iowa Girl Eats.

If you’re looking for more Super Bowl food ideas, consider a pasta salad to go with those wings. It’s easy to mix together and you can make it ahead. Or perhaps bake up a loaf of no-knead olive bread or cornbread to dip in your chili. Homemade focaccia is always a good choice too.

And if you need drink recommendations, this list of rum punch recipes has some great options for big batch, make-ahead cocktails.

Happy snacking!

1. Chicken Wings

A must-make for the big game. Classic Buffalo wings are the most popular Super Bowl food. My version of wings doesn’t have buffalo sauce (which is basically buttery hot sauce). Instead they’re sauce in caramelized sweet onions, dark undertones from coffee, smoky heat from chipotle chiles, with just the right amount of sweet fruitiness from raspberry jam. They’re Piñata Wings!! Absolutely full of surprises.

2. Chili

We’ve got a lot of chili recipes, 50 to be exact. No matter which one you choose, make sure you top it with sour cream, minced red onions (or green onions), shredded cheese, chopped cilantro, and maybe some thinly sliced jalapeños if you like things spicy.

3. Bacon Blue Cheese Dip

A dip of some kind has to be included in your Super Bowl snacks. This bacon blue cheese dip screams Super Bowl. It has smoky bacon, salty blue cheese, and a nice tang too. I love serving this with potato chips or crisp veggies but it also is perfect for dipping your chicken wings too.

4. Nachos

I’ve got a few different versions on ¡Hola! Jalapeño including one topped with chicken and black beans, a surf and turf version, another made from sweet potatoes that are topped with smoked cheddar cheese, and my personal favorite, fajita veggie nachos topped with all kinds of roasted veggies, lots of cheese, and salsa.

5. Sweet & Salty Snack Mix

This is essential finger food and so good you won’t be able to stop yourself from eating it by the handful. Salty pretzels and peanuts plus crisp cereal all tossed in a honey-mustard sauce and baked until crunchy.

6. Chili Cheese Dip

This easy roasted hatch green chile dip is hands down, no lie, truly the best queso dip on the planet. However, if you’re looking for more of a layer dip situation, another option is my warm black bean and cheese dip—also phenomenal.

7. Baked Goat Cheese Dip

This is a bit more high end than the queso dip, but crazy easy and so good. Made with fresh ingredients like olive oil roasted grapes, walnuts, and sage. Serve warm with crunchy whole grain crackers.

8. Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dogs

A hot dog is always welcome at Super Bowl parties. Chili dogs are great, especially if you are planning on making chili anyway but if you want to take your dogs to the next level, wrap them in bacon!

9. Twice-Baked Potatoes

There are a lot of Super Bowl recipes for loaded potato skins and what are twice-baked potatoes if not the ultimate loaded potato skin? These are big and beautiful stuffed with cream cheese, lemon juice and lemon zest.

10. Jalapeño Poppers

These Cheddar Bacon Jalapeño Poppers are filled with creamy cheese, crisp bacon, and green onions then topped with bread crumbs and baked until melting and golden brown. Serve with Homemade Blue Cheese Dressing or make a double batch of the bacon blue cheese dip above for the perfect game day indulgence.
